Day 4- Carlsbad Caverns

Day 4: Carlsbad Caverns

We have a new blogger group starting today!!!

We are the DOPEYS our names are: Blaine Kimrey, Jackson Purcell, Hollis Comer, Taylor Poteate, Makayla Ennis, Claire Thompson, Everett Tew, Adam Weber, Katlyn McCoy, Chelsea Stegal, Julia Al-Hussaini, Melody Dennison, and Reagan Reynolds!

This morning we woke up at 5:15 am for a long journey through Texas and New Mexico to visit Carlsbad caverns! We were awoken by Katti singing (screaming) at us to give God the glory glory and the want to see the baby deer running around outside.

We hopped on the bus and immediately went back to sleep!

We had to stop multiple times without getting off to buy things and every stop had Cinnabon, so we were getting frustrated. We channeled that frustration into various bus activities to take our minds off it!

Kristen Ahoush and Annisten Christensen have decided upon marker tattoo artists as their future profession!

We arrived at Carlsbad Caverns National Park

A trip 1 creation, wristing (high fives using the wrist to avoid spreading germs), has evolved into extreme wristing. Our counselor Katti Kerns and Daniel LaCourse demonstrating their own wristing creation!

Kobey Godbold wanted to show off his creation as well.

Our groups descending into the caverns!

Claire Thompson recruited help from all of us to complete a junior park ranger application and received a certificate and badge from the kind people at Carlsbad Caverns!

Arriving at New Mexico Military Institute, where we will sleep tonight and hearing from retired Lt. Col. Jeff Cunningham, our host.

Eno City!!

Tonight we will sleep outside!! After our sing along, we're so tired and excited for tomorrow. We are looking forward to the Painted Desert, Petrified Forrest and The Grand Canyon.

We are very sad to be losing one of our own in our amazing temporary bus driver Jeff. He was scheduled to be with us until day 4. He will be very missed!!

We are also happy to welcome a great addition to our family in our new permanent bus driver Joseph!

Thank you so much for reading!
